“FABULOUS BENDER BOYS” AT TOWNGATE JAN. 9



 
“The Fabulous Bender Boys” bring the finest guitar pickin’ in town to the Towngate stage as Oglebay Institute continues its Towngate Spotlight musical series at
8 p.m. Saturday, January 9 at Towngate Theatre, 2118 Market Street in Wheeling.
With a musical style that is best described as “where rhythm and blues meets Buck Owens,”  “The Fabulous Bender Boys” have more than 100 years of combined experience. Members include Roger Hoard (Buck Bender) on lead guitar and vocals, Jim Miller (Butch Bender) on lead guitar, mandolin and vocals, Chad Smith (Buster Bender) on drums and vocals and Mike Mazure (Buzz Bender) on bass guitar.Don’t miss “The Fabulous Bender Boys” at 8 p.m. January 9 at Towngate Theatre. Tickets are priced at just $10 and are available at the door only. Come early for the best seats.

 

 TOWNGATE THEATRE PRESENTS “G-MAN”

“G-Man,” the Oglebay Institute 2009-2010 National Playwriting Contest winner, be will staged at Towngate Theatre for two weekends- January 15 –17 and January 21-23 and is directed by Wheeling theater legend Hal O’Leary.
The “G-Man” is Larry- a garbage collector, and he likes picking up trash just fine. If other people have issues with his career choice, well, that’s their problem. He’s smart; he’s got a good buddy to share good times with, and he’s got a way with women…he seldom sleeps alone. He also regularly visits his mom in a nursing home, something his sister can’t bring herself to do. Then, a change in his work shift leads to a dreadful discovery, a night of bad decisions and ends with his arrest. The Art of Wine - Great Food. Great Wine.
Savor fine food and wine in one of the area’s most elegant settings – the Stifel Fine Arts Center. Learn fascinating wine facts, tour the art gallery and mingle with other wine lovers.  Wine tasting dates for 2010 are: February 12, March 19, April 16, May 14 and June 11. Each program has a different theme and includes a wine expert, who shares tips and information on selecting and serving wines, and a buffet of light foods.
